Dallin's companion was able to send a few pictures to his mom and she shared them with us. These are the first missionaries and the first people to be baptized EVER on Nikunau. Dallin is so happy where he is serving and having such an amazing experience with the people of Kiribati. And I am so grateful to have a couple pictures!
We took the youth on a trip down to the Washington DC Temple. It was a fun day and a blessing to be around so many good kids. I am anxious to be at the temple with our whole family once Dallin gets home in December.
We are always taking terrible pictures of each other during class. The teacher is constantly having us switch around settings and we see mostly what not to do. I snapped this picture the other night and thought it was super cute. I'm so grateful for this girl!
We had Zoey and Kaia spend the night before Memorial Day and took them to the parade. Our town's parade is the oldest Memorial Day parade in the country. Next year will be 150 years! Cami was required to march with the middle school band, but with everyone in green shirts we couldn't point her out to the girls. It was fun and I would definitely go back! I love the chance to honor those who have sacrificed so much for our country.
I know it seems crazy to be emotional about a car... but I got a little misty-eyed when we said goodbye to Hank. My kids have grown up in that car, learned to drive in that car, cried, laughed, celebrated and argued in that car. We have given countless pep-talks and lectures (joke with our kids) and traveled to so many family vacations and gatherings. I don't even know how many times we drove him from PA to Indiana in the last 10 years. He has kept us safe and warm for about 12 years and almost 200,000 miles. I'm glad he is going to a great family to be a blessing to them. I don't think I could bear just trading him in or letting a stranger drive him away. Here's to you Hank. Thanks for all the memories!
For the second year in a row we headed to the Men's lacrosse semifinals. Last year we went to Baltimore, but this year it was in Philadelphia. We had a blast together and enjoyed perfect weather. The games were both decided by one goal. The Notre Dame game even went into overtime. We have decided to make this an annual event and warned Dallin that he has to fly home for Memorial Day weekend next year to go with us! I love this new tradition.
Cami had her final band concert. She is giving up the flute for the camera. We have had fun going to her concerts and look forward to photography displays in the future!
It seems like almost every night there is a "last" for Taylor. This was the last orchestra concert. She has played the violin since 4th grade and everything she knows she learned in school. She has never had a private lesson. I think if she had more time in her life she probably would have been more involved with the orchestra, but she has had a great experience. I always get emotional at these concerts too. I am just so grateful for such wonderful opportunities. Truly amazing.
Our photography teacher loaned us macro filters for our class this week. It was a little more difficult than I anticipated, mostly because our class is late in the evening. We were using reflectors to try to give the flowers enough light and all the photos are hand-held. I got a few that I really like, but I LOVE Cami's orange flower pictures.
