Our favorite team is going to the Super Bowl! We have waited a long time for this and are enjoying the moment. Ian and Liz joined us for the game last week and Kaia and Zoey thought we were crazy with all our loud cheering! I love this picture of us after the win!
We got to have Zoey and Kaia for the weekend while their parents took a much needed getaway. Brian promised Dalene a trip for Christmas, so we gladly enjoyed the girls for a few days. We made some treats, played lots of games, and did some snuggling. My kids love having little ones in the house and they are all such a big help. Kaia finally learned how to say everyone's names while she was here and it was super cute! Here are a few pictures from the fun weekend.
We've had the same missionaries for a long time now. I think almost 6 months! They are such wonderful women and have made a lot of good impressions on my neighbors and friends. Sister Lindsay is Celiac and we were her first area on her mission. It was a great transition for her because so many people in our ward are either celiac or know how to cook for a celiac. Sister Lindsay got transferred last week and we got a new missionary who is also celiac! Her name is Sister Munson and we are her first area as well. It is satisfying as a mom to give them food and take care of them. I know Dallin will soon be out on his mission and I hope the members where he is take good care of him as well.
Sister Stamm will be going home from her mission in a matter of weeks and we will really miss her. She is so talented and such a hard worker. She plays the violin for our ward often and we will miss her great sense of humor. Here is a picture of Sister Lindsay and Sister Stamm from last fall.
Dallin and I had a trip back to the ENT and now he has a surgery date the end of February. He has always had a hard time breathing through his nose, so we figured why not fix it before he leaves home. The deviated septum will be straight and his future roommates, missionary companions, and wife can thank us later for preventing years of frustrating snoring :)
So Ed and I have decided to put ourselves in check twice a year with The Digest Diet. It is a 21 day program that is testing our resolve. OK, we have both cheated a few times, but overall we have done well. We are hoping that if we lose 5-10 lbs twice a year we can keep from putting on the extra weight that begins to creep on in the 40s. Mostly it gets all the sugar and artificial junk out of your body and gets you feeling great. Ed broke down and had a Coke Zero yesterday and I bought some small dark chocolate pieces and allow myself one or two a day now that I'm finished with week 2. I just need something to satisfy my craving so I don't break down and eat a pan of brownies!
Anyway, it really is a great program and seems to be well rounded and healthy. We will finish just in time to have a Superbowl party for our beloved 49ers next Sunday!
Cami was chosen as a Captain for her reading olympics team. She was so excited to have her great friend Jenn as a captain with her. She has already read 12 books from the list and plans on reading many more before March!
Dallin and Taylor are both serving on student council this year. That means they are in the same homeroom everyday and work on school events together. They recently sponsored a "Red, White, and Blue Night" and then a Dodgeball Tournament.
The senior class shirts for the first event were pretty funny. Every day the principal on the announcements begins the day with "Know where fun ends, and trouble begins." Their shirts said, "Seniors - Where trouble Begins!" and the B was actually the 13. I thought it was so clever... and ironic, because all the administration know that they are the best behaved class to go through East in about a decade :)
The Dodgeball tournament is also a big hit (no pun intended) each year. Dallin and Taylor were so busy organizing the event that they decided not to be on a team this year. I though the shirts were great for this as well. It's hard now that they are older and parents aren't really welcome at a lot of the events. I have to rely on facebook to see pictures sometimes. I did find one that had them both in it.
Taylor is the YCL president for next year's camp and she has begun spreading the word about how much fun our new camp is going to be. She made a cool display with a bunch of pictures and is visiting many of the ward YW meetings and firesides to drum up excitement. She is working hard to start planning and I'm excited to see her as such a great leader. We'll find out the new name of our camp soon...
