Rifle Shooting

The Youth went to a rifle shooting activity Saturday.  There are quite a few gun experts in our ward and they were great about teaching the kids about safety and helping them shoot at targets.  Taylor has shot before, but this was Cami's first time.  They really love getting to shoot and I love it that they can learn to be comfortable around guns in a safe way.

Friday's With Cami

Taylor has a new piano teacher and lessons on Friday afternoons.  Cami has been coming with me and the weather has been beautiful the last few weeks.  We spread out a blanket and just lay in the sun and talk for the whole hour.  I love to hear all her stories about school and it's nice to just have relaxing time together.

Driver's License

Guess who is a legal driver now?  Guess who was also pretty excited about it?

Dallin's Mission Call

"Dear Elder Seguine:

You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  You are assigned to labor in the Marshall Islands Majuro Mission.  In addition to your calling to share the gospel, you will be assigned to serve in the Kiribati Mission Region.  It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 24 months.

...You will prepare to preach the gospel in the Kiribati language...

...As you devote your time and attention to serving the Lord, leaving behind all other personal affairs, the Lord will bless you...

...Your purpose will be to invite others to come unto Christ...

...Greater blessings and more happiness than you have yet experienced await you as you humbly and prayerfully serve the Lord in this labor of love among His children. "

Every time I read these words tears start to fall.  I am so happy for my son and all the amazing experiences that await him.  It is amazing how a place we have never considered suddenly feels so obvious and perfect.

It was a busy day after his call arrived.  The original plan was to overnight the envelope to him, but he couldn't wait one more day to find out where he was going.  So we came up with a new plan. First we called family members and got some of them on a conference call and some on a google hangout.  Then, we carefully removed the letter (the girls were witness to the fact that no one peeked), scanned it, and emailed it to Dallin once everyone was ready.

I am so grateful that Dallin has so much love and support.  He is thrilled and excited for this opportunity and is relieved to finally know where he is going.

Dallin Goes to BYU

It really happened.  My son packed up the car and headed out to college.  I wasn't prepared for how sad I would feel.  I am so happy for him, but this new phase of life without him in our home and our everyday lives is sad.  It is getting better as time goes on and we are getting used to texting and skyping.  I love watching him enjoy his independence and feel successful.  I love watching my girls begin a new type of relationship with each other.  I love that my friends were worried about me when he left and checked on me and even drug me kicking and screaming to work out and to lunch :)  I don't love that Dallin hates taking pictures, but I'll take what I can get.  In the first two weeks I got one picture of his bed and two pictures of a BYU game (which started off with a scary storm).  I also found one on line of the "Freshman Y".  I am so proud of him and so grateful he has the opportunity to continue his education at such a fantastic university. 

Bad Storm

We had a really strong storm and many of my flowers were destroyed.  It was very sad.
