Weekend Getaway

Ed and I were able to have a few days away while my Mom was here. We stayed a little outside Atlantic City. It was nice to relax, read, go to the spa, and let Ed hit some golf balls. We did make it to the boardwalk (I wouldn't recommend it - especially after dark) and walked along the beach for a few minutes. We were really just content to hang out at the hotel and enjoy having no "to-do" lists for a while! Thanks Mom for taking care of the kids!

The Defense Attorney

Dallin's PEN class recently participated in a trial. The students were all given identities and background information. The attorneys were then able to interview the students and put together a case. Two boys were accused of starting a wild fire in a national forest and Dallin was part of the team to defend them.

It was a lot of work and fun to watch. Our county court house let us use a real court room for the night and parents were chosen to serve on the jury (Ed was one of the lucky ones). The case went well and the jury found the boys innocent of starting the fire. They were however fined $500 for starting a cooking fire in camp without a permit.

In the video, Dallin is trying to prove that because the boys arrived after dark and the rangers were not at the post as they should be, there was no way they could have known that they needed a permit. He submitted a picture of the forest in the dark as evidence - it was pretty funny and a pretty good idea. Too bad the jury didn't buy it (where did they find these jokers anyway?:)

Grandma Katy's Flowers

Some of Grandma Katy's Iris are blooming. They smell very sweet (like grapes) and make me smile every time I look at them. I have them planted in front of the three maples in front and it looks like I will have blooms in all three places. I miss grandma this time of year. She was always so proud of her Peony bushes, lilac, and anything else that was blooming. I'll post more pictures once the lilies and peonies are blooming.

Reading Olympics

Dallin has participated in Reading Olympics the last two years. A team of around 10 kids all read as many books as possible from a list of about 35. They then meet throughout the year and practice answering questions about the books. In the spring, there is a big competition among local schools. Each round you can score a possible 20 points by answering your own questions and can gain a few more by answering the other teams question if they get it wrong.

There were over 3,000 students competing in Bucks County on the same night and after completing 3 rounds, Dallin's team scored 68 points and had the highest point total at our meet. The librarian thinks that they have set a new record for Bucks County (she's still checking around). Anyway, she was very proud and so were we! Way to go Dallin and the team at Bridge Valley!

Snuggle

I love to snuggle with my girls at night before bed. This is how you can
usually find us around 8pm.

Mother's Day

My family made Mother's day wonderful for me. They cooked, did the dishes, let me lounge on the couch, and gave me some cute gifts. I love you guys!

We LOVE the Wii

We had so much fun playing the Wii at Dan and Tricia's house over Easter that we HAD to get one. It is so much fun for everyone. Cami and I can even play and have a great time. Cami smokes us in bowling on a regular basis. Dallin had some friends over on Friday and had a lot of fun.

(They are getting to the age where it's not really cool to pose for pictures so this is the best I could do - they really were having fun:)

Trees!

We finally planted some trees and plants in our backyard! For those of you who don't know, I LOVE to work in the yard. It was just like Christmas morning for me. Now I just have to keep everything alive:)

Lacrosse Trophy

Taylor's team placed second in the tourney two weekends ago. This past weekend her team went undefeated(4-0) and Taylor scored around 10 goals (we sort of lost count). She played great! Her coach brought the team trophy for the girls to see and let Taylor take it home until practice on Wednesday - a big honor! We really love lacrosse!

What's one more?

Taylor had to get two teeth pulled yesterday to make room for those big permanent teeth she inherited from her dad in her small mouth she got from mom. She was a real trooper. While she was still numb, she decided it was a good time to pull a molar that was only a little loose. I said that she had had enough for one day and thought she would drop it. I was wrong. A few minutes later she came from the bathroom with the tooth in hand. She has no problem pulling her own teeth, in fact she has pulled most of them. She also thought it made sense to maximize the visit from the tooth fairy. Her smile looks a little bare today!

Happy Anniversary!

Ed and I celebrated 14 years of Marriage on May 1st. I can't believe it has been that many years, then again, life without Ed seems so long ago. We are very blessed and more in love each year. Thanks for making life so fun and full of good things - I love you Eddie!

Those of you who know Cami know that she has a big sweet tooth. I guess it shouldn't have surprised me to hear her singing the classic song from Mary Poppins...
