YW Camp

General Scenes from Camp Liahona.  This was the last year that all three Seguine girls would be at camp together.  We really appreciated our time together and I feel blessed that I was able to be with my girls for these years.

Sabado and Domingo

The work site foreman was named Domingo.  He only spoke Spanish and relied heavily on those in the group who could translate.  He quickly learned that Braden and Taylor could help keep things on track and saw that they were very hard workers.  He gave Taylor the nickname Sabado, as she was the "Saturday" to his "Sunday". She developed quite a soft spot for him over the course of the trip and he even cried when they left.  As a parting gift for the crew, they bought them the first tool belts they had ever owned.  That also brought Domingo to tears.  He has been working construction for over 30 years and has never owned a tool belt.  It really is the little things that mean the most.

HEFY in the Community

The kids also had the opportunity to teach English and get to know the kids in the community.  Taylor LOVED teaching at the school every couple days and fell in love with the kids in the town.  If there is one thing Domincans love... it's baseball.  Since she was the only girl from Philly in the group, she decided to bring lots of Phillies gear to give them.  Bags, key chains, baseball cards, and other dollar store stuff.  The kids were SO excited!  They flocked around her and even called her "Santa".

HEFY 27 Waterfalls

The second weekend of the trip the kids got to take a break and see the 27 Waterfalls.  They had a great time hiking around, sliding on, and jumping off the waterfalls. Thankfully, Taylor continued to take lots of pictures (over 700 in total!) so I will try to choose some fun ones!

HEFY Activities with the Local Ward

The HEFY kids got together almost every night with the youth from the local ward to have some kind of activity.  They got to know each other really well and had so much fun together.  The ward even had a gift made for them with the Angel Moroni engraved on it.

Flying Home

Cami and I had a great time together on our trip.  It's always fun to have one-on-one time with her.  She has such a good heart and is truly a kind person.  Love you Cami.

HEFY Worksite

These kids worked so hard on the new clinic every day during the week.  The temperatures were close to 100 degrees and they were mixing cement and laying block.  I am so proud of my tough little girl for the way she worked while she was there.  She loves a challenge and you could tell by the smile on her face that she was loving this one!

Yep, I'm at Grammy's House

I know I'm in Indiana when I walk out on the back porch and see Grammy helping the kids do this:

There is nothing like a little target practice and practice starting fires using flint and steel.  No wonder the kids love spending time at her house.  I should have taken pictures of the fishing and bike riding too.  The good old days still exist here, and my kids love it.

HEFY Weekend #1

The first weekend in the Dominican Republic, Taylor's group headed out to an island on a catamaran boat.  They played on the beach, hunted for giant starfish, and got to know each other.  She had a blast and, thankfully, took lots of pictures.
