We decided to go to a new place to get our Christmas tree this year. With Dallin gone and our traditional tree farm running low on quality trees, we thought this was a good year to start a new tradition. Taylor's friend Larissa had never gone to cut a tree before, so we invited her to join us. The snow and cold helped us to get in the Christmas spirit and we found a great tree. Ed did most of the hard work with the super dull saw and then let Larissa finish the job. Merry Christmas!
Many of Dallin's friends came to visit us over the holiday break. It is always so nice to see them and catch up on their lives. They are such good kids. I was putting together Dallin's Christmas package (that I knew he wouldn't get until well after Christmas...) while they were visiting, so I had them each write a letter to Dallin. I know he will be so happy to hear from them. Soon enough they will all be catching up with Dallin!
This may have been the fan favorite activity of the whole trip. We grabbed a taxi from the city and our driver was super friendly and chatty. He loved that Ed could speak to him in Spanish and by this point in the week Taylor and I understood enough to laugh in all the right places :) This guy grew up in the area and said he would love to show us the best way to see the aqueduct. He was going to wait in the parking lot anyway, so he preferred to go with us and tell us stories the whole time. He even took a picture of all of us, so it was great to have him around. His friendliness combined with the beautiful weather and scenery made it a highlight of our trip. Again, I can't believe this was built nearly 2000 years ago... and we were still able to walk on top of it. The girls love the picture of our shadows on top of the bridge. We were there at just the right time of day!
Best Birthday Ever! I got to spend my birthday with my family in Tarragona! We chose to go on this day trip because we really wanted to see some big Roman ruins. Tarragona has a colosseum, an old roman wall, a chariot racing track, and an aqueduct. The train ride was beautiful once it got close to the ocean and we had beautiful weather for walking around. I think this was the girls' favorite day. Again, it was amazing to think that these structures were built almost 2000 years ago! Taylor and Cami agreed that we should return in the Spring or Summer when we could also take advantage of the beautiful beaches.
