This was a BIG year for the Seguines at camp! All three girls were finally at camp at the same time and even in the same level. Cami was a first-year camper with me and Taylor was the YCL president and chose to help with level 1. We were so busy leading up to camp getting everything ready that it all seemed a blur.
This was our first year at the new Camp Liahona and there were definitely a few bugs to work out. The latrines were terrible and there were only 2 showers for the whole camp. The kitchen was way too small and the pavilion wasn't built yet. Thankfully we had absolutely beautiful weather and were spared rain that could have made things much worse.
Ed was made Bishop of our ward the week before camp and was able to come up for Bishop's night. It was really special to have him there for testimony meeting with our ward and especially our two girls. Another spiritual experience happened the first night. Taylor and her presidency worked so hard planning a special presentation for all the girls. Each girl was given a balloon with 8 black ribbons tied to it signifying burdens in our life that weigh us down. As they walked down a long path they met YCLs who would read them a quote or scripture about handing your burdens over to the Lord. The YCL would then untie one of the black ribbons. At the end of the path, there was only one ribbon left weighing down the balloon. When all the girls were present they were asked to quietly think about a burden they wanted to turn over to the Lord and when they were ready they could untie the last ribbon and set their balloon free. It was a really beautiful sight to see and had a big impression on all of them.
