Dallin had a great time at prom. He went with a big group of friends and we got lots of great pictures. I think I took close to 200, but I'll just post a few here. Doesn't he look so handsome? All the kids looked amazing and the weather held out until the end of the night (when it poured!)
Taylor was feeling very goofy with her friends while waiting for the Prom festivities to begin. Somehow they were all laughing hysterically at this potential Prom hairdo for Taylor in a few years.
Cami and I ran the fun run in the annual Bridge Valley Race For Autism. This fundraiser has grown every year and is now a huge event. I didn't take my camera because I was running, so I just took a picture of Cami when we got home. She couldn't stand running (more like jogging) at my pace, so she sprinted ahead, finished, and came back for me :) It was embarrassing to hear our friend (Mrs. Danko the librarian) announcing over the loud speaker "Here comes Cami across the finish line... Cami you lost your mom! Where is she?"
Every year since we moved here, our kids volunteer at the Special Olympics at a local High School. It is always a wonderful, humbling, and uplifting experience. The Olympians are so full of joy and love. They find happiness in just being part of the day. Dallin and Taylor brought friends this year and they also had a great time. It happened to be the same day as prom, so we just had to make sure no one got too sunburned for their pictures :)
Cami is playing in the 5th/6th league this year. It is a BIG jump from the 3rd/4th group. The girls are so much bigger, faster, and skilled. She has enjoyed running full field, learning to check, and getting a few shots on goal. Go Lightning -CBAA HooRah!
Dallin's friend's family has season tickets to the Phillies. When she found out he had never been to a game she just about had a fit. Her sister couldn't go to the next game, so she invited Dallin. Not only did they have a great time at the game, but they went to eat at another "Man vs Food" restaurant called Tony Luke's. They area famous for their Roast Pork Italian sandwich which many would argue should replace the cheese steak as our city's official sandwich. Tony was there mingling among the customers and Dallin noticed he was wearing a 49ers shirt. They got to bond a little over our favorite team.
I hope you had a nice Easter. We enjoyed finding eggs, going to church, and having a yummy meal together.
It's no secret how conservative Ed and I are when it comes to politics. We've donated to Mitt Romney recently and fully support his bid for the presidency. After the attack on Ann Romney and stay-at-home moms yesterday, I donated again and got myself a bumper sticker.
I have made the choice to work outside the home AND the choice to stay at home at different times in my life as a mother. It is a very personal decision and one a family has to make through much thought and prayer. Regardless of the time spent in or out of the home, I know most moms never let anything take priority over their children. I think it is important for Moms everywhere to stand up for the family and the core values that strengthen our children. From what I know of Ann Romney she has done precisely that.
For Dallin's birthday Ian promised him a day in NYC. They took the ferry, went to some cool sites (including the 9/11 memorial), and ate the best Cheeseburger and Chinese Dallin has ever had. They had a great time and Dallin even remembered to take some pictures for me! (They thought the painting of the cow looking at a painting of a cow was just about the most hilarious thing ever.) Thanks Liz for making yet another great memory for our boys.
